Being back in South Carolina, one of the first places I wanted to eat at is Crady’s Eclectic Cuisine on Main. (Whew, long name, but it’s worth it!) I ate here the first time I visited the Myrtle beach area and just loved it. Nothing has changed, and I mean that in a good way.
We started to peruse the menu and got the iced tea of the day-Orange, ginger and mint. No better way to cool off from the 90 degree weather.
I don’t think the menu has changed since the last time I ate at Crady’s and…good thing. There were a ton of dishes that sound tempting, but a stomach can only hold so much! Today, I went for a real southern treat: a BLT with fried green tomatoes. Served on thick sourdough bread with a chipotle dressing, it’s a great variation on the classic. It comes with a small green salad, which is a nice healthy touch. (I also ordered sweet potato fries, so I guess that sort of cancelled the “healthy” factor out…) I would almost come to Crady’s just for the salad dressings. I daresay if the whole table is downing unused dressing like shots, the stuff is just damned good. I also got to try a bit of the French Dip, piled high with super rare roast beef, swiss cheese, horseradish and caramelized onions. I kept myself in check and only demolished my lunch.
By that time, no one was hungry for dessert. That is a total shame because as I mentioned in my last article about Crady’s, the sweets are excellent. As a compromise, we got a peach cookie and shared it 4 ways. It was a nice way to end the meal, but 9 times out of 10 I just prefer savory to sweets. (Except for the pie there. I will fight you for the pie.) As we paid (70 dollars including tip for 4), the waitress offered us iced tea to go. Which leads me to…
The fact that the staff at Crady’s is just as amazing as the food and locale is. The ladies are just downright nice. They aren’t like typical restaurant waitresses, they rather seem like a good friend or a favorite aunt.
So now that I’m back in S.C. for a while, I’ll definitely be back to Crady’s again and again. If you happen upon the charming downtown Conway, check it out.
