T.G.I. Friday’s Unlimited Appetizers in Myrtle Beach, SC

There’s (almost) nothing that can entice me more than the prospects of unlimited food. The Chef and I love to (very occasionally) gorge ourselves silly on all-you-can-eat offers. When I heard about the new Unlimited Appetizers offer from a T.G.I. Fridays commercial, I was mesmerized by visions of mozzarella sticks and potato skins. Plus, I haven’t been to a Fridays in a dog’s age, so I suppose the time was right.

Never in my life have I been so satisfied with an all-you-can-eat offer! In other situations, I’ve noticed that servers tend to make themselves scarce in sit-down AYCEs, not the case here! Our waitress was amazing and was basically shoving food down our faces.


We started off with the Spicy Korean boneless wings and the Braised BBQ Beef Tostadas. The Tostadas were decently good, playing on a street food theme that Fridays seems to be picking up. Atop of a crunchy tortilla, there was shredded BBQ beef, a crunchy coleslaw and a queso cream. I wouldn’t have minded these so much if it weren’t for the queso. It had more of the consistency of a glue-y paste than a cream, plus it was cold. Other than that, I would have really enjoyed this dish. The Spicy Korean boneless wings were, on the other hand, EXCELLENT!! I would definitely get these again, so it is a shame they are for a limited time only. The level of spice was just right and there were some light undertones of lemongrass and other spices. They were crispy and basically boneless wing perfection.


From there we went on to the Street Taco Potato Skins and Seared Pot Stickers. These were both items that I wouldn’t order again. The Skins included more BBQ beef and almost exactly the same toppings as the Tostadas. What I didn’t necessarily appreciate was the fact that the potato was so bulky. It seemed like a lot of tater for not too much topping. (Little did I know….) Since I have a serious round-the-clock wonton/gyoza/pot sticker/whatever craving, I was soooo excited for the Pot Stickers. There were 6 big ones in a serving, but the filling didn’t bowl me over. The pork flavor was very intense, but not necessarily in a good way. These definitely disappointed me.


While we were filling up, we didn’t want to stop there. It was time for two Fridays classics: the Mozzarella Sticks and the Loaded Potato Skins. Once again, with the Skins, I thought that there was way too little filling for how thick the skins were. There was just a smattering of cheese and a nice sprinkle of crumbled bacon on top. Plus, there wasn’t any sour cream, just a creamy dressing to dip them in. On another note, I was 100% convinced that the skins themselves were baked and not deep fried. Has that changed or is it just me?! What can you say about mozzarella sticks? As long as they are crunchy and not soggy in any way, they are good in my book. Served with marinara sauce, Friday does a good, but pretty standard version. I mean, is there anything better than biting into a steaming hot mozzarella stick? I think not.


At this point, we were super stuffed, but we wanted to try out the traditional buffalo boneless wings. When these bad boys hit the table, there was no mistaking that pungent, vinegar-y, spicy smell. It might have been all food that had come before, but we could barely enjoy these delicious nuggets. There was an overabundance of wing sauce on the chicken that under normal conditions would have been lapped up, STAT.

This special offer is $12 for EVERY appetizer you can eat. We could have kept going all day had our stomachs not been at maximum capacity. I thought it was a great deal for what we got and wouldn’t hesitate to do it again. (Perhaps with more of an emphasis on the wings and moz sticks.) Naturally, this is a filling, calorie-packed meal that I won’t be eating every weekend, but it sure was fun while it lasted.
